• Description:
  Purpose To take responsibility and accountability as a senior member of the team by providing an exemplary high standard of editorial output and managing deadlines and resources. Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Write, translate and adapt items, news stories or programme material and to edit packages at the desktop
  • To liaise closely with team colleagues and all contributors, reporters, stringers and when commissioning material, to provide effective guidance and support
  • Liaise with correspondents and producers, gathering information and advice on stories and coverage
  • Provide ideas and suggestions for programmes, stories and attend pre programme and planning meetings when required
  • Manage and undertake pre and post production and studio work, both live and pre-recorded.
  • To work with technical systems and manage a range of video, audio and digital equipment and other technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver programmes to an exceptional high standard whilst in the appropriate medium
  • Produce graphics at the desktop and in collaboration with graphic designers.
  • Communicate and Co-ordinate to ensure presenters, reporters and production staff are fully briefed on programme material
  • To work on the assignment desk, plan daily news coverage, commissioning, TV and digital content from correspondents in the field
  • Work closely with correspondents and producers to ensure effective television packages and live broadcasting is delivered on time and to a consistent high standard

  Required Skill Set & Experience:

  • Able to demonstrate strategic, conceptual and analytical skills including a solid understanding of Journalistic and Editorial knowledge.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Journalist role or similar role
  • Experience of managing through organisational challenges and unifying teams
  • Able to work with minimum supervision within a fast paced environment and achieve objectives

  • Proven track record of delivering what is required within tight deadlines and exceptional standard
  • Able to work with precision, accuracy and applies a high attention to detail
  • Effective presentation skills using multimedia tools
  • Approachable manner that encourages positive interaction with others
  • Proven Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership orientated and able to coach, instructor, motivator, mentor and a team builder
  • Decisive, ‘hands on’ change manager who is capable of managing change positively and seamlessly
  • Managing performance issues to maximise output of team members and reports
  • A full command and up to date knowledge of spoken and written modern standard Arabic language
  • Good standard of spoken and written English
  • Sound Editorial knowledge and able to identify trends and potential issues
  • Dealing with live ‘breaking news’ and developing ideas resulting in turning into successful creative programme with speed
  • Able to demonstrate a very good understanding of news and current affairs programmes and the types of audiences they attract
  • Successful track record of conveying programme ideas to the Editors and contributing to the planning process
  • A thorough understanding of the Company’s legal obligations when developing news stories for broadcasting and publications
  • A flexible and ‘can do’ approach applied to all areas within the role of a Senior Broadcast Journalist
  • Able to travel internationally when required
  • Ability to demonstrate a courteous, professional work ethic
  • Experience in a similar Arabic TV environment at a senior level (Desirable)
